How Does The Service Work?
- All payments will be taken on a monthly basis by Direct Debit.
- A single membership will cost £14.50 per month; A family membership will cost £29 per month.
- In order to become a member, you must therefore have a bank account that can enable Direct Debits to be taken, as well as having a valid email address.
- Membership forms need to be completed, along with either a paper/electronic Direct Debit mandate.
- Direct Debit payments will be taken in advance on the 28th of each month, this will give you access to food the following month. Therefore, all Direct Debit mandates need to be completed by the 15th of each month to ensure you can start the following month. Please ensure you have enough funds in your bank.
- You will be issued a membership card that you must bring every week. Your card will vary depending membership type and will determine the amount of food you can access.
- Failing to have your Direct Debit payment processed in time and cleared by the bank, could lead to extra charges or your membership being revoked.
- We do not offer delivery or collections at alternative dates, but someone else can pick up on your behalf as long as we are informed.
- We will provide our service at least 48 weeks of the year (12 months/4 weeks a month), in reality we will aim to provide a pantry service 52 weeks a year. This means you are potentially receiving 4 weeks of food free a year.
- If your payment fails and no funds are received within 4 weeks of its failure – (to cover outstanding amount & current months payment) then your membership will be revoked and re-allocated to another member.  Should you experience difficulties with payment please contact us asap.
- Our service is registered with the local authority and is compliant to all food safety standards.
- Please be aware that our food may contain or come into contact with common allergens.
The 14 allergens are: celery, cereals containing gluten (such as barley and oats), crustaceans (such as prawns, crabs and lobsters), eggs, fish, lupin, milk, molluscs (such as mussels and oysters), mustard, peanuts, sesame, soybeans, sulphur dioxide and sulphites (if the sulphur dioxide and sulphites are at a concentration of more than ten parts per million) and tree nuts (such as almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, brazil nuts, cashews, pecans, pistachios and macadamia nuts). If you have an allergen, please let a member of the management team know, so we can try and support you. It is your choice whether to select these products or not. We will highlight all allergen information during the pantry to make you aware.
- We will not tolerate any abuse or discrimination to our staff, volunteers and other pantry members. If it’s deemed you have breached our rules, we will have the right to revoke your membership. Kent Community Pantry is a friendly, supportive community initiative, therefore any negative comments, social media posts, etc. related to our service will not be tolerated and will lead to your membership being revoked. If you ever have any issues please contact us using the above details.
- If you are unable to pay by Direct Debit, but want to be part of the scheme, please contact us or speak to a member of the team to explore possible payment methods.

Our service is amazing value and potentially could save you around £40 a month on your shopping!!
